Welding Turning Rolls – Adjustable and Self-Adjusting Types for Versatile Workpiece Support
Welding turning rolls are essential auxiliary equipment for automated welding of cylindrical workpieces such as shells and pipes. They provide stable support and variable-speed rotation, enabling efficient girth and longitudinal seam welding when combined with manipulators or positioners.
Our company offers both adjustable and self-adjusting series, with load capacities ranging from 1 ton to 300 tons. Roller materials include steel wheels or optional polyurethane-covered wheels to suit various applications.
Adjustable Turning Rolls: The roller center distance is adjusted manually (or via motorized screw) to accommodate different workpiece diameters. Simple structure, cost-effective, and ideal for applications where workpiece sizes are relatively fixed or change infrequently. Offers wide adjustment range and reliable positioning.
Self-Adjusting Turning Rolls: Featuring a unique swing-arm self-aligning mechanism, the rollers automatically conform to the workpiece diameter upon placement—no manual adjustment needed. Rapid centering, uniform contact, and significantly reduced setup time make them perfect for multi-variety, small-batch production or automated lines.
Common Advantages:
Stepless speed control via variable-frequency drive for smooth start/stop
Independent operation or coordinated with welding system
Optional polyurethane wheels to protect workpiece surfaces from scratching
Heavy-duty steel construction ensures no deformation under long-term heavy loads
Remote control and custom designs available upon request
Typical Applications:
Boiler drums, pressure vessel shells, pipe spools, wind tower sections, paper dryer cylinders, marine shafts, and other rotation bodies in SAW, GMAW, and TIG welding processes.
